The modularity and strength of the Greencare wheelchair frame allows for cost effective, selective, and controlled refurbishment based upon ongoing worn or damaged part replacement as opposed to complete strip down and repainting as is common practice with welded steel frame wheelchairs.
Greencare wheelchairs may be refurbished either using suitably equipped in house resources, alternatively we can recycle chairs to a standard build configuration or a revised/new build specification if required. All refurbished chairs retain their original serial number identification.
Returned wheelchairs must be thoroughly cleaned to remove all residue and evidence of previous use, and they must be complete, individually packaged, and sealed to avoid damage and loss of component parts. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any wheelchairs that are known to be contaminated.
They will then be inspected by an authorised Rehabilitation Engineer.
The returned wheelchair is subject to an initial inspection to check for any major structural defects or strains that may require component part replacement including:
On completion of the inspection the wheelchair will be classified as follows:
Level 1 – Servicing only.
Wheelchairs that do not have worn or damaged parts and thus are likely to require servicing rather than refurbishment to include service checks, adjustment, and selective component upgrade.
Level 2 – Servicing & Refurbishment.
Wheelchairs that either require worn component part replacement or have been specifically configured for the previous user that will require refurbishment. Level 2 covers the servicing elements covered in Level 1 plus worn component replacement as required which could include:
Any component replacement required will be advised to the wheelchair service prior to further work being carried out.
